Choose Your Bath Linen

Which material should you choose for your bath linen?

Manufacturers offer bath linens in a variety of different materials. You'll find items made from bamboo viscose, linen, soybean fibers, microfibers, and many other materials. However, the French brand Anne de Solène only offers bath linen in 100% combed cotton terry.

Combed cotton is the ultimate material for creating high-end bath linens with outstanding absorbent qualities. 100% cotton terry is soft, supple, and natural. Combed cotton bath linens are extremely gentle and retain their shape and beauty even after numerous washes, provided you follow the care instructions.

Which combed cotton weave should you choose?

There are several types of weaves:

  • Terry bouclette : small loops are present on both sides of the towel. The entire PETALE line is made of terry bouclette.
  • Terry velour : terry bouclette, with the loops shaved on one side for a softer feel and a shinier look. This shaving process is sometimes used when making bathrobes: the outside is made of velour, while the inside is done in classic bouclette for better absorption
  • Jacquard terry : a weave used in terry velour and terry bouclette with a pattern formed by the special interweaving of different-colored threads.

Which weight offers the best absorption?

Rule of thumb: the heavier the bath linen, the more softness, comfort, and absorption you'll enjoy. But be careful: your linen should not be too heavy, or it can become difficult to handle. The best bath linen has a weight of more than 400 g/sqm.

At Anne de Solène, our bouclette weighs an average of 550 g/sqm, which is an ideal weight for ensuring optimal absorption. Our bathrobe material weighs a little less (450 g/sqm) to ensure it remains comfortable on your skin while wet.

Which size should you choose?

What are the different sizes of towels?

You can easily recognize a bath sheet by its large size: as its name suggests, it wraps you up when you get out of the bathtub or shower. A bath sheet is ideal for taller people. It usually measures 35,5x59 in.

A bath towel is a little smaller than a bath sheet. Among other things, it can be used to dry off when you get out of the shower. Suitable for all adults, a shower towel measures 27,5x55 in.

A hand towel is perfect for blotting your hair or face. It can also be used as a hand towel in the bathroom. It measures 20x40 in.
